Client: Queensland Government
Challenge:
To create the first whole-of-government Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Individual agencies within the Queensland Government each had their own RAP, however, the then Premier, The Hon Anna Bligh, wanted to create a single whole-of-government RAP to replace individual agency RAPs – something that had never before been achieved in Australia. A key driver was to develop a plan that balanced symbolism with practical action.
Our role:
We led the team that worked across all agencies to develop the new RAP. We facilitated a whole-of-government workshop that also brought together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous stakeholders. An iterative process of workshops and consultation followed, leading to endorsement by all individual agencies, as well as by the Premier and Cabinet.
Outcome:
Australia’s first whole-of-government RAP, The Queensland Government Reconciliation Action Plan 2009-2012, which was endorsed by Reconciliation Australian and Reconciliation Queensland.
